• What did you learn about the status of the issue you reported to SeeClickFix?

I learned that the city is trying their best to earn money to fix streets and sidewalks in oakland that’s why they aren’t  fixing it right now.

• Describe the response you got about the issue you reported.  What was the message you received?  Who sent you that message?

The message said that they received the issue and that they are working to earn money for the streets and sidewalks of oakland.

• Describe how the 9th grade students are tracking the progress of the issue we reported using stickies and posters.  What do each posters mean?  

Their issues are moving forward toward closed they are going from open to acknowledge and last to closed. Open means that the issue is being reported, acknowledge means it has been seen and u got a response and closed mean it has been fixed.

• Did you change the status of the issue you reported on a poster?  Explain why, or why not.

Yes, I went from open to acknowledge  because They seen the issue and responded to it but haven’t really fixed it.

• Did any patterns emerge on the poster about which issues are resolved, and which are not?  Explain your answer.

The pattern is that most of the posters are moving from open to acknowledge and really few go to closed which means the issues we are reporting are being noticed.

• Do you think 9th grade students are gaining agency based on their efforts on this project?  Explain your answer. yes, they are gaining agency because for some of the students  their issues have been fixed and some have been responded to ,but are still working on them.

• In your own words, explain what the words RESISTANCE and AGENCY mean.

I think that resistance is when you try to change something you don’t like or something you think that is unfair by protesting. Agency is when you gain the thing you want from the resistance you did.

Social movement is when a group of people come together to resist something they don’t like.

• What does the company called SEECLICKFIX do for people living in Oakland?

Seeclickfix company help people who live in oakland because they can report things they don’t like then seeclickfix annoy and bug oakland city until they fix the problem.

• Do you think SEECLICKFIX helps people in Oakland to resist oppression and gain agency?  Explain why, or why not.

Yes, it does help because the city would have to fix the problems or they would be annoyed by the seeclickfix company.

I took a picture of a pothole on ygnacio avenue on monday may 15 in the morning because it was homework.

We had to sign up to the seeclickfix website.

I uploaded the picture to them gave them information about the location and why I’m reporting this problem.

Yes, I do because if they don’t they will get annoyed and bugged by the seeclickfix company.

What is a social movement?

A social movement is when a group of people stand up and go out to the street to resist oppression.

What is May Day?

May day is a holiday celebrated in a lot of countries honoring hard workers.

How did May Day become a day to protest?

May day became a day to protest because of the workers that were first resisting the oppression of hard work in chicago.

The fremont hs students will be protesting on may 1st to resist oppression such as immigrants deportation.

We have learned about a lot of social movement like the brazil vengar protest and the chicago workers protest.

Our class decided that the protest will most likely to be the deportation of immigrants.

Why not, I think it will be really successful if we really took it serious and put in hard work and make it loud and clear for people to hear and understand.

Yes I think colonization, the encomienda system, and african slave trade still influence people lives today because people are still thinking that it hasn’t ended because there are a lot of racism.

 

 

 

 

I live in the fruitvale neighborhood in oakland california.I would describe my neighborhood as a dangerous one.I am a person that is a athletic and hardworking.As a son I am so good to my parents.Some of my identity aspects is that  I am arab and a muslim who was born in yemen.

 

First of all I am a muslim who was born in yemen. When I came to the United states i started hearing the word terrorist a lot and I was called terrorist.Another thing is that people are saying things about my religion which is islam that it’s a bad religion. Being called a terrorist was really new to me I thought americans were all nice so it wasn’t a good experience.And people telling me my religion is bad frustrated me.

 

Another kind of narrative is what is against a counter narrative that is said by a person that had been labeled by a dominant narrative.The first picture said muslims are over 1.5 billion if they were terrorist there won’t be no one left in world.The second one is a verse from quran that say to not kill an innocent person which show that our religion doesn’t say go bomb people.The third one is prophet muhammed commands on war which show how good of person he is was.

 

Furthermore I had identity images and identity images are images that describe a person.One image that I had Is the flag of yemen which is whee I was born and it shows my nationality.Another picture that used is a picture of quran which show that I am a muslim and its in my daily life because I am trying to follow quran because I think its the right path.The third picture is the logo for my soccer team and it show what I like and what I play for.

 

In conclusion people see me as a muslim boy that is growing up to be a terrorist. If people really knew me they would know that I like to play soccer and a hardworking in school.Telling the story of who I really am is important because people will just have a idea that is not good about you their whole life.What I learned is that a dominant narrative is what makes all the hates in this world by showing people wrong.

What is a DOMINANT NARRATIVE that someone might tell you about your RACE or your ETHNICITY?

Something that a dominant narrative will say about my race or Ethnicity is that we are terrorists.They say that because they have the ability to do it. The thing that they don’t know is that in islam whoever kills someone he isn’t a muslim no more.Also because a little group did something don’t blame it on the whole religion.Last thing is that muslims are 1.6 billion if they were all terrorists

 

First thing I need to do to me my shadow box better is to get a new shoe box from home because the on I got is torn.The second thing I really need to do is get more pictures that I identity with because I don’t have that a good amount of pictures.Another thing that I need to do is bring something from home to make my shadow box special and represent me more better.
